Falden Notebook
Editorial Approach

A Record of Standards.

The following documents how Falden Notebook approaches the selection, writing, review, and publication of articles on meal timing, eating rhythm, and daily food scheduling. Transparency in editorial process is a condition of the publication's independence.

01 — Principles

The Editorial Foundation

Falden Notebook operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

The publication was founded on the premise that observations about meal timing, eating rhythm, and daily food scheduling are worth recording carefully — not as prescriptions, but as documented patterns. The editorial process reflects this premise: rigour without overreach, observation without instruction.

Falden Notebook is an independent editorial publication exploring meal timing, eating rhythm, and daily food scheduling in everyday life. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

02 — Process

How an Article is Made

01

Subject Selection

Article subjects are drawn from two sources: the editors' own documented observations on meal timing and food scheduling, and themes emerging from reader correspondence. Topics are assessed for relevance to the publication's remit — the relationship between when food is eaten and how the day unfolds — and for the existence of published nutritional research supporting or contextualising the observation.

02

Research and Source Verification

Content published by Falden Notebook is selected based on published nutritional research and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication. Writers are required to identify the source of any factual claim beyond personal observation, with preference given to peer-reviewed dietary studies and published research journals. Where sources are referenced, they are cited within the article text or in a footnote.

03

Editorial Review

Every article submitted to Falden Notebook is reviewed by at least one second editor before publication. The review addresses factual accuracy, source reliability, alignment with the publication's register and standards, and the absence of any claim that goes beyond what the documented evidence supports. The second editor may return an article for revision or request additional sourcing before approving it for publication.

04

Publication and Corrections

Once approved, articles are published with a dated byline and, where relevant, a note of the research sources consulted. If a factual error is identified after publication — by a reader, a cited source, or the editorial team — a correction is noted publicly within the article. The original text is preserved alongside the correction note, so the nature and extent of the change is visible to readers.

03 — Sources

Source Policy and Research Standards

Peer-Reviewed Research

Where an article makes reference to research findings on meal timing, meal frequency, or circadian eating awareness, the preferred source is peer-reviewed nutritional literature. Writers are expected to identify the publication, study, or research body from which the finding is drawn.

Personal Observation

Personal observation is a legitimate and valued form of evidence in this publication. It is clearly identified as such — not presented as generalised finding. The publication distinguishes throughout between "the writer observed" and "published research suggests".

Reader Contributions

Reader-contributed observations are accepted as reported experience and are attributed to named contributors (with permission) or anonymised at the contributor's request. They are not represented as research findings.

Commercial Sources

Falden Notebook does not regard commercial sources — brand-produced research, product documentation, or industry association publications — as independent research. These may be referenced contextually but are not used as primary evidence for any editorial claim.

04 — Writers

Standards for Writers and Contributors

Disclosure

All writers and contributors to Falden Notebook are required to disclose any commercial relationships, product affiliations, or financial interests that could influence their selection of subject matter, sources, or editorial stance. Disclosures are reviewed by the second editor as part of the standard review process.

Register and Scope

Writers are expected to maintain a consistent editorial register: observational, evidence-informed, and restrained in claim-making. Falden Notebook does not publish content that makes unqualified promises about outcomes from changes to food timing or eating rhythm. The publication's scope is documentation, not direction.

Independence

No external party — advertiser, affiliated organisation, or reader — has editorial authority over the content of any article. Subject selection, source assessment, editorial review, and publication decisions rest entirely with the Falden Notebook editorial team.

05 — Accuracy

Accuracy and Correction Policy

Falden Notebook takes factual accuracy seriously. The steps below describe the publication's approach to identifying, acknowledging, and correcting errors after publication.

Reader-reported errors

Readers who believe a factual error exists in a published article are invited to contact the editorial team at [email protected] with the article title and the specific passage in question. All reported errors are reviewed within five working days.

Correction procedure

If an error is confirmed by the editorial team, a correction note is added to the article text. The note identifies what was changed and when. The original phrasing is preserved in the correction note where doing so is practical and informative for the reader.

Withdrawal

In rare cases where an article is found to contain a fundamental error that cannot be adequately addressed by correction — such as a misidentified primary source — the editorial team reserves the right to withdraw the piece from publication. A note of withdrawal is placed at the original URL.

No retroactive rewriting

The publication does not silently edit published articles. All substantive changes made after initial publication are recorded in the correction log appended to the relevant article.

06 — Editorial Notice

Articles published on Falden Notebook are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on meal timing, eating rhythm, and daily food scheduling. The content is not intended as professional advice, nor as guidance for the management of any specific condition. Readers with specific concerns about their daily routines are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.

We recommend speaking with a qualified wellness or nutrition professional before introducing any new habit or routine to your daily life, particularly if you have specific dietary requirements.
